Pat & Tanya Connors Family

When Pat brought Tanya out to show her the 125 acre farm in 2004, he was hoping to buy it for a family retreat.  The property is naturally beautiful with rolling hills, aged oak, Birch, Cedar and fruit trees.  It was blessed with an abundance of wildlife such as deer, turkey, Canadian geese, ducks and pheasant.   Tanya saw the property as perfect place for her horses.  At the time Quarter Horses were the sole breed of horse in the family.  That was soon to change.

Cleaver Creek Farm is located in the hills east of Elroy.  It expanded to 200 acres with the purchase of crop land in 2013.  The Cleaver Creek is the headwaters to the Wisconsin River and originates on the property, hence lending it’s name to the new family farm.  The farm hosts a three acre spring fed pond loaded with Rainbow Trout.  The farm is also a federally licensed trout farm so fishing is legal throughout the year.  It is in this unique setting that Pat, Tanya and their three daughters, Jessica, Jennifer and Ashley decided to start their Clydesdale business.  Pat was anxious to have the Clydesdales that he had always wanted and soon purchased his first filly foal from Barb and Devere Clay in 2004.

 

In the spring of 2005 the first broodmare was purchased.  With the first foal sue in the spring of 2006, one of the first priorities was to select a name for the farm and a registration prefix.  Pat wanted a name that reflected the joy and excitement he felt as the mares “thundered “ down the hills in the morning and afternoon at feeding time.  It was also the family’s desire to include their Irish heritage in the farm prefix.  Hence it was decided that “IRISH THUNDER CLYDESDALES” would be the name of the Clydesdale breeding operation at Cleaver Creek Farms LLC and “IRISH THUNDER”  was approved for the registration prefix shortly after.

 

Cleaver Creek Farms LLC is a family owned and operated business.  We offer stallion services and quality stock for sale.  We are actively involved promoting the Clydesdale breed in our community and the equestrian world.  We frequently host tours and events for educational and community groups.   With the help of many good people we have met along the way, we have been able to successfully exhibit our horses in competition and are proud to claim many World, National and All American Awards in Halter and Hitch events.

 

Our family is very grateful to be involved with the Clydesdale breed and to have met so many wonderful people throughout the world.  We would also like to thank the Clydesdale Breeders of the USA for providing the support and organizing the promotion of this great breed.
